The chisel is perhaps the purest woodworking tool. In the Japanese woodworking tradition the chisel (nomi) has come to be representative of the woodworker (shokunin) and his craft. Featuring a hard steel cutting edge laminated to a softer steel or iron backing, Japanese chisels offer a fantastic edge as well as a simplified sharpening experience. We recommend sharpening all of our chisels with either water or diamond stones, which can be purchased here, or read more about tool sharpening here.
